‘সমাজের জন্য উপদ্রব’ উল্লেখ করে ভারতের প্রধানমন্ত্রী নরেন্দ্র মোদির জন্মস্থান গুজরাটের একটি গ্রামে অবিবাহিত নারীদের মোবইল ফোন ব্যবহারে নিষেধাজ্ঞা আরোপ করা হয়েছে। গুজরাটের মেসানা পৌরসভার সুরাজ গ্রামের প্রতিনিধিরা ফেব্রুয়ারির শুরুতে কিশোরী বালিকা এবং তরুণীদের ফোন ব্যবহারে এ নিষেধাজ্ঞা আরোপ করেন। এ সম্পর্কে গ্রাম প্রতিনিধি প্রধান দেভাসি ভনকার এএফপিকে বলেন, ‘গ্রামের নেতারা মনে করছেন অবিবাহিত নারীদের ফোন ব্যবহার একটি নেশার মতো। এটা সমাজের জন্য এক ধরণের উপদ্রব’ এ জন্যই আরোপ করা হয়েছে ফোন ব্যবহারে নিষেধাজ্ঞা। ভবিষ্যতে স্কুল পড়ুয়া ছাত্রদের জন্যও মোবইল ব্যবহারে নিষেধাজ্ঞা আরোপ করা হবে। দুই হাজার লোকের বসতিপূর্ণ গ্রামটিতে অবিবাহিত নারীদের মোবইল ফোন ব্যবহারের কারণে তাদের পড়াশুনার ক্ষতি হচ্ছে এবং গৃহস্থালীর কাজের প্রতিও তাদের মনযোগ কমিয়ে দিয়েছে বলে জানিয়েছেন গ্রাম প্রতিনিধিরা। তবে কেউ যদি এই নিষেধাজ্ঞা না মেনে ধরা পড়ে তাহলে তাকে দুই হাজার ১০০ রুপি জরিমানা করা হবে এবং তথ্যদাতাকে এই জরিমানার অংশ থেকে ২০০ রুপি পুরস্কার হিসেবে দেয়া হবে বলে জানানো হয়েছে গ্রাম কাউন্সিলের পক্ষ থেকে। কিন্তু তারা তাদের পরিবারের সদস্যদের মোবইল ফোন ব্যবহার করে কথা বলতে পারবেন।
