বিদ্যালয় ও এলাকাবাসী সূত্রে জানা গেছে, উপজেলার বিষ্ণুপুর ইউনিয়নের ওসমানপুর সরকারপাড়া গ্রামের জাহাঙ্গীর বাদশাহ সহকারী শিক্ষক হিসেবে ২০০০ সালে ওই বিদ্যালয়ে যোগদান করেন। তাঁর স্ত্রী ও দুই মেয়ে রয়েছে। এক মেয়ে পঞ্চম শ্রেণিতে ও আরেক মেয়ে শিশু শ্রেণিতে পড়ছে।
এলাকাবাসীর অভিযোগ, ২০১২ সালে চতুর্থ শ্রেণির ওই ছাত্রীকে বিয়ে করেন তিনি। এ জন্য তিনি মেয়েসহ তার মা-বাবাকে নানা প্রলোভন দেখান। কিন্তু বিয়ের ঘটনাটি এত দিন প্রতিবেশী কিংবা এলাকার কেউ জানতেন না।
মেয়েটির ভ্যানচালক বাবা এ প্রতিবেদককে বলেন, ‘বাবা মুই গিরব মানুষ। ওর অনেক ধন। পোরতোম মুই বেটিক বিয়াও দিবার চাও নাই। কিন্তু অয় বেটির পাচ ছাড়ে না। বেটির নামে ৬৩ শতক জমি লেকি দিয়া কোটোত জায়া চুপ করি বিয়াও করচে। এই কথা কাকো জানবার দেয় নাই।’

ওই বিদ্যালয়ের প্রধান শিক্ষক সিরাজুল ইসলাম বলেন, প্রথম থেকে চতুর্থ শ্রেণি পর্যন্ত মেয়েটির ক্লাসে রোল ছিল এক। তবে বিয়ের পর সে আর পরীক্ষা দিতে পারেনি। বিয়ে সম্পর্কে জানতে চাইলে বলেন, ‘সম্প্রতি জানতে পেরেছি মেয়েটিকে বিয়ে করেছেন জাহাঙ্গীর। কিন্তু অভিযোগ না থাকায় তাঁর বিরুদ্ধে কোনো ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ করতে পারিনি।’
ওই বিয়ে নিবন্ধন করেছেন কালুপাড়া ইউনিয়নের নিকাহনিবন্ধক নজরুল ইসলাম। জানতে চাইলে নজরুল ইসলাম বলেন, ‘ঘটনাটি অনেক আগের, এই মুহূর্তে মনে পড়ছে না, খাতা দেখতে হবে।’
উপজেলা সহকারী শিক্ষা কর্মকর্তা শাহেদুল হক বলেন, ‘একজনের ব্যক্তিগত বিষয় নিয়ে হস্তক্ষেপ করা ঠিক নয়। তিনি একটি কেন, সাতটি বিয়ে করতে পারেন।’\

উপজেলা নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা (ইউএনও) খন্দকার ইসতিয়াক আহমেদ বলেন, ‘ঘটনাটি জানার পরেই তদন্ত করতে শিক্ষা অফিসারকে নির্দেশ দিয়েছি। প্রতিবেদন হাতে পেলে অভিযুক্ত শিক্ষক ও যাঁরা ওই বিয়ে পড়ানোর সাথে জড়িত তাঁদের বিরুদ্ধে আইনানুগ ব্যবস্থা নেওয়া হবে।’
